The trustees conducted a preliminary evaluation of injuries and natural resource damages based on the analysis of existing data and information. The anadromous fish portion of this analysis estimated that releases of hazardous substances in connection with the Iron Mountain Mine (IMM) site killed approximately 20 million fall-run chinook salmon in the Sacramento River between 1981 and 1996 (Stratus 1999). The trustees determined that riparian and instream habitats at the site have been 100-percent injured from IMM releases.
