Case: Blackbird Mine, ID

The Consent Decree, among other things, requires the responsible parties (RPs) to:

  • Remediate the mine site and water quality in accordance with the cleanup program to be selected by EPA.
  • Fund a program to reintroduce Chinook salmon to Panther Creek.
  • Implement a Biological Restoration and Compensation Plan (BRCP) to restore, enhance, and create anadromous salmonid habitat in site-impacted and out-of-basin streams.
  • Fund Trustee oversight of BRCP implementation.
  • Make cash payments for Trustees past damage assessment and response costs.
