Remedial/Injury Assessment
Case: Spectron, MD

The trustees, in cooperation with the responsible parties and their representatives, have assessed the nature and extent of potential natural resource injuries to the trust resources associated with Little Elk Creek.

The trustees and responsible parties agreed to make some conservative assumptions regarding the natural resource injuries and focus on appropriate restoration activities, using existing data to assess potential past, present, and future injuries to ecological trust resources. The trustees have determined that the following resources have potentially been injured by contamination at the site:

  • Benthic resources and their habitat. Benthic species in the intertidal zone were likely adversely impacted due to the release of oil.
  • Surface water resources, including fish.
