Submit Restoration Proposals

Trustees are seeking Round III restoration projects. To learn how to submit a project, read the instructions. Unlike previous rounds, the council is soliciting applications for actual restoration projects, rather than restoration ideas. The projects will be funded via grants from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Future Restoration Actions

As the New Bedford Harbor clean-up progresses, the Trustee Council will initiate additional restoration actions that address the restoration priorities. Restoration ideas will be periodically solicited from the community and other interested groups, organizations and agencies. The Trustee Council will also work with these various groups to select and implement appropriate natural resource restoration projects.

Throughout its history, the New Bedford area has had strong ties to the marine environment; this tradition continues today. Restoration of coastal resources and human uses can yield economic, cultural and aesthetic benefits. Through restoration of the coastal environment in New Bedford Harbor, the trustees are working to rebuild a sustainable system that will benefit humans and living resources well into the 21st century.

There are opportunities for public involvement through:

1. Identification of restoration actions

2. Participation in implementation of restoration actions

3. Providing comment on proposed actions
